Education is important to Saint Raymond's Church members.  There are many religious, artists, scientists, engineers and doctors that call themselves Maronites.  We want to help and encourage those young parishioners to realize their gifts from God and pursue higher education.

2009-2010 Saint Raymond's Maronite Cathedral College Scholarship

St. Raymond’s Maronite Cathedral is happy to announce the 2009-2010 College Scholarship. The Scholarship is a one-time College Scholarship for eligible High School seniors.

 

The purpose of the College Scholarship is to recognize qualified graduating high school seniors of St. Raymond's who have been admitted to an accredited college or university for the completion of a baccalaureate program.

 

College Scholarship Students

For High School Seniors eligibility shall be based on, but not limited to:


A) Scholarship - Minimum of a B average (based on a 3.0 out of 4.0 or 4.0 out of 5.0);

Grade point average (g.p.a.) for the10th and11th grades and the first semester of the 12th grade.                 

 

B) Leadership/Community Involvement - Involvement in school extra-curricular activities; Demonstrated community service activities; Active and/or leadership role in community service.

 

C) Parish Involvement - Membership at St. Raymond's Maronite Cathedral; Active MYO member (or other youth activities); Choir member, altar server, lector, etc.; Participation in parish activities.

The awarding of this scholarship is not based on the financial need of the applicant(s).

Applications are available on January 25, 2009 and must be completed and returned no later than April 1, 2009.  Applications will not be accepted after the April 1, 2009 deadline.

Application Rules

 

The application must be filed with the St. Raymond’s Maronite Cathedral College Scholarship Committee.  The final date for filing completed applications is: April 1, 2009. Applications will not be accepted after the April 1, 2009 deadline.

 

Scholarship, leadership, and parish involvement are the criteria by which applicants will be judged.  Financial need is not a factor in the selection of scholarship winners.

A  B average is the minimum requirement based on a 3.0 out of 4.0 or 4.0 out of 5.0 grade point average (gpa) for the 10th and 11th grade, and 1st semester of the 12th grade.

 

All scholarships are in the form of certificates of award issued by the College Scholarship Committee, conditioned upon the enrollment of the student in an undergraduate baccalaureate program of an accredited college or university.  Upon receipt of “Verification of Enrollment” form, from proper school officials, a Scholarship Fund check for the amount of the award will be made out to the college or university and forwarded to the student.

 

All applications become the property of the St. Raymond’s Maronite Cathedral.
